Acupuncture (Dry Needling)
Brian has been practicing dry
needling / medical acupuncture since 2002 and is a
member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS)
who are the largest society for acupuncture as
practiced by osteopaths, General Practitioners,
Physiotherapists, podiatrists and other regulated
healthcare professionals in the UK. Currently the
practice of acupuncture is not regulated in the UK
so make sure you get a good recommendation or choose
a professional such as an osteopath who is
regulated.
Medical acupuncture often called Dry
Needling differs from traditional acupuncture in
that it is done after a conventional medical
diagnosis. This means that the needling is done to
affect the muscles, joints and ligaments to decrease
pain and inflammation and reduce muscle tone. At the
clinic in Cardiff we currently only use this
technique for the treatment of muscloskeletal
problems such as low back pain, tennis elbow, neck
pain and headaches as well as for the
relief of symptoms associated with osteo-arthritis
in the knees, hips, neck and back.
Acupuncture can be a very effective technique
and we often use it in combination with other
techniques such as manipulation to get the best
results. there is no additional charge for this and
our standard fees apply per consultation. Please see
our bookings page for information about our fees.
If you would like to make an
appointment specifically for acupuncture then you
will need to make this clear when you call so we can
book you in with the appropriate person.
If you have any questions or queries
about acupuncture as practiced by us please call the clinic on Cardiff
029 2019 0040 At the time of writing
people receiving medical acupuncture from a
regulated healthcare professional such as an
osteopath may not be able to give blood for six
moths after you have had the treatment. This is due
to the policy of allowing the practitioner taking
the blood to make the decision on the day of
donation. |
