Childbirth is hard work for both mother & baby. Even
a normal birth can leave stresses and strains in a
baby’s head if the ‘pushing’ stage is too long.
Deliveries with ventouse or forceps can obviously
involve more strain.

This can lead to problems like irritability, crying,
colic, sleeplessness, feeding problems, recurrent ear
infections, torticollis and in older children, glue ear.
Some babies try to relieve their symptoms by banging
their heads or pulling their hair. They may move around
a lot and may actively avoid certain positions because
they are uncomfortable for them. Osteopathic treatment can help enormously with these
conditions.
Children
of any age can benefit from treatment, generally the
earlier we can treat the quicker we can relieve the symptoms, if stresses are allowed to
accumulate it can make it more difficult to restore
normal function.
During teenage years the body undergoes an enormous
amount of change and many musculo-skeletal conditions
such as osteochondrosis and chondromalacia patellae can
occur. Osteopaths are trained to diagnose and or treat
many of these conditions. Other problems can be caused
by sporting or recreational activities.
Both Brian and Louise have
undergone undergraduate & post graduate training in paediatric
osteopathy
