Sweet 16
We can't believe quite believe that the clinic has been going for 16 years this year and whilst we look older than sixteen years ago we hope that we are also wiser. We would just like to thank you all for your support over the years and hope that we can return your trust in us by continuing to provide the best service we can for the next 16 years.
Its new year! are you thinking of returning to exercise?
Easy tips to help you stay in the game.
So it's the New Year and you're thinking of returning to exercise after a blow out over the festive season. Do you just go back to what you were doing six months ago or what you could do ten years ago?
Annoyingly you lose your fitness much more quickly than you gain it, so if you have had a break from exercise you may need to start all over again. However, if you were to change only one thing for the better I would advise you return to exercise. It has so many health benefits that sometimes they are hard to quantify.
Here are some handy tips to get you going and ensure you stay in the game.
Alternate your exercise
Doing small amounts of different exercise will allow your body to cope more easily with the change from not exercising to exercising. Try doing combinations of walking, cycling, swimming, cross training or some other exercise that you enjoy.
Warm up and warm down
Spend a few minutes doing some light movement and stretching before and after you begin exercise, it will pay dividends.
Little and often
Doing small amounts of exercise daily will help you avoid injury, and probably be more effective than doing a few hours, once a week.
Got a long standing injury? Get Advice.
If you are concerned about an existing injury or an old injury recurring due to exercise, then get some advice from a health professional before you start. Everyone can do some exercise - you just need to find what works best for you.
Keep up the momentum
Keeping the exercise going is one of the hardest things to do; the first six weeks are usually the worst. Some people prefer to go to classes that are pre- booked, others go with friends and some people have to fit it in whenever they can. Whatever you are able to do, make sure you have something to remind you, set a reminder on your phone or computer, write notes for yourself or put it on the calendar and remember to reward yourself for all the hard work.
Most importantly you should do the type of exercise that you enjoy as you are more likely to keep it up.
Good luck!

John Mullins.
John Mullins, local Osteopath who has practiced from the therapy centre in the parade in Roath, Cardiff for many years has retired and we wish him all the best for the future. We are more than happy to see patients who now find they need to see someone else. We will however need to undertake a new patient consultation with all patients who have not been to us before. This allows us to understand you and your condition better and allows us to design a treatment plan specifically for you. you should allow an hour for this first consultation as it will involve a case history, examination and treatment if it is appropriate. We hope that we can continue his good work and provide you with the best service we can.
